Partaking in Divine Nature of God

BethanySMC - Sunday, 20 January 2013 08:34

….Study through the letters of Apostle Peter: Who we ought to be & what we ought to do….

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 1Pet 1:4

To be called the children of God is not just a label that men put on themselves upon conversion. As natural children share their parents’ nature, God chose to share some of His nature with those who will be born of Him. To be partakers of God’s divine nature is the greatest privilege a mortal man can have. It includes having the mind of God, possessing and sharing his holiness, operating in spirit and living a supernatural spirit filled life as a new creation.

Through His Spirit that lives in us, God enables us and is able to do the impossible; through knowledge of Him we have access to the storage of his resources and his divine nature. The more we know him, the more access we have to the treasures of heaven and God’s spirit is liberated to manifest God’s nature in our lives. There is a great difference to come to your friend whom you know and ask, versus knocking on the door of a stranger when you need something. God has given and set aside for us all that we need in life and godliness and yet, we dare not ask because many times we do not know him.  Virtually for every circumstances of life there are God’s promises, and God’s power is available. We must set our hearts to follow after God; we should be diligent in building a relationship with Him and follow them who through faith and patience inherit the promises. Heb 6:12

God has promised that the time will come when His Spirit will dwell in men. God has fulfilled what he promised, and we see the evidence of it in the last 2000 years as we read the scriptures and biographies of people of faith. Today we can personally experience the power and God’s divine nature manifested in us.

If you have no evidence of God’s nature in your life you should diligently examine your life, your relationship with God and obedience to the Lord. The Father of Glory wants to give me and you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: that the eyes of our understanding being enlightened; that we may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his mighty power. Eph.1:17-19

When God’s Spirit lives in us, we are able to express God’s nature of love even toward unlovely people, who naturally deserve nothing but wrath. The things that an ordinary human being cannot do, the Christian who has given his all to Jesus and trusts Him is able to do supernaturally. When the love of God lives in a person’s heart, we can forgive those who have wronged us and bless those who curse us or do evil to us. God has forgiven us so much more! When the Holy Spirit lives in us, God’s divine nature in us overrides limitations of our natural body in all areas of our lives. “With people it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God”. Mk10:27
